Choro Samba MPB and Classic Brazilian sounds

Performing Brazil is a performance ensemble started by Edgee Ribiero in 1997 to celebrate all things Brazilian - music, culture, dance and language. Musical styles covered include samba, bossa nova, forro, samba-funk and frevo, but their real speciality is chorinho, the "Brazilian Blues".

The group has recently given rise to the "Clube Nacional de Chorinho da Australia", celebrating and developing this glorious, nostalgic, vibrant style in Sydney and nationally.

Performing Brazil has performed at Bellingen, Dubbo and Illawarra Jazz Festivals, Darling Harbour Ritmo Festival, Musica Viva's Cafe Carnivale, Brazilian Carnival events, Brazilian Film Festival (Sydney), Latin Film Festival (Sydney) and has had regular performances and residencies at Lazybones and Foundry 616.

The group recorded and self-released their first CD of chorinho "Assanhados" in 2014 at Velcro Studios
